Kaldt (en: cold) was conceived as the music for a butoh performance performed by Sonja Salkowitsch. It is a sonic depiction of the long and cold winters of Norway, where the polar night lasts for many months, and the Aurora Borealis and the stars are the only sources of light. It was first shown in Copenhagen. Ipso Schaltwerk was born and grew up in Norway, but now resides in Vienna. Sonja Salkowitsch was born in Austria, grew up in Norway, and now resides in Berlin.
